Interactivity. Engagement. Empowerment. Technology advances rapidly and our tools as digital artists allow for unique and exciting pursuits. Depth cameras, audio reactivity, powerful GPU’s, all allow for the experience to become more ‘real time’, more ‘now’. Pushing into these areas and creating unexpected and engaging moments, experiences and inspiration is my goal with so much of my work and this is it’s forefront.
I am always striving for interactivity and engagement. This represents a recent effort into integrating interactivity with mapping. This currently serves as a stand alone piece, yet also serves as a proof-of-concept to engage a sculptor to collaborate and a mixed piece.
The piece projection maps a series of animations onto the arms, legs and torso of the form. These individual animations are audio reactive and react and interact with the music. At the same time the viewer may control the mixing between various animations by using a simple button interface on an Ipad.
- The process could apply to almost any sculpture.
- The entire piece takes a small footprint and runs wirelessly for distance control.
